The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team returns to their regularly scheduled programming this weekend, getting back into Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) play this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders against the University of Sioux Falls Cougars.

The Bulldogs return from a spring break road trip of 10 games over six days at the RussMatt Central Florida Invite, where they went 4-5 with one weather cancellation. This puts the Bulldogs at an overall record of 6-7 and a conference record of 2-2 so far this season after splitting their season opener and conference opener series against Southwest Minnesota State at the end of February. The power driven UMD offense currently ranks third in the conference on average home runs per game (1.31), led by junior infielder Jack Puder who has collected eight home runs already this season and sophomore catcher Michael Gabbard who knocked in two grand slams throughout the Bulldogs' Florida schedule.

Scouting Report - University of Sioux Falls

The Sioux Falls Cougars are 8-6 overall and 2-3 in conference so far in the 2024 season, currently sitting on a two win streak after their own schedule of games throughout the sunshine state. The Bulldogs are 20-7 against the Cougars since 2013, most recently defeating them 10-1 and 7-5 in a doubleheader sweep on the road last season.
