The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team will continue their season through the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) this weekend, taking on the Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks in a back to back doubleheader series.

The Bulldogs fell in all four games against No.20 Augustana University last weekend, losing by a margin of 3 runs or less in three out of the four games against the nationally ranked Vikings.Â

Brayden Buttweiler continues to headline the UMD pitching staff, holding on to a 2-0 record with a 4.94 ERA. Buttweiler added eight more strikeouts in his appearance against the Vikings to bring his season total to 24 in 23.2 innings pitched. He also maintains a .234 batting average against, good enough for eight best amongst NSIC pitchers.Â

The Bulldog offense is led by Jack Puder and Kade Peloquin, both of whom have reached the 20+ RBI's so far this season. Puder currently ranks eighth in the NSIC in RBI's with 24 and fourth in home runs with eight.

UMD holds on to a 8-13 overall record and a 4-8 conference record so far this season, placing them at 13 in the conference standings.Â

The Mavericks are 11-10 overall in the 2024 season with a conference record of 7-4, sitting at third place in the current NSIC standings. The Bulldogs are 6-25 against the Mavericks since 2013, with their last win over MSU dating back to the 2019 season in game one of a doubleheader played in Superior, WI.
