The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team travels to Florida this week to take on 10 games in six days at the annual RussMatt Central Florida Invite, hosted by the Florida Tech Panthers.

Last Time Out

The Bulldogs split their season opening series with the Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs last week, going 2-2 over the two day span to start the season. Junior infielder Jack Puder helped highlight UMD's offensive capabilities, going 5-15 (.333) from the dish with four home runs and nine total RBI's throughout the series. Senior catcher Trevor Gustafson also shined, going 7-14 (.500) from the plate with three home runs and a team high 1.214 SLG% while also tallying 12 put outs with a 1.000 FLD%. 

Scouting Report - Ohio Dominican University

The Ohio Dominican University Panthers are 6-3 overall to start the 2024 season. They have already begun their RussMatt Invitational schedule, winning their opening game against MSU Mankato and splitting a doubleheader with Notre Dame (Ohio). The Bulldogs are 1-2 against the Panthers since 2014, with their most recent meeting ending in a 5-3 Bulldog win back in 2016.

The Grand Valley State University Lakers are 6-1 overall to start the 2024 season with the Bulldogs being their first matchup of this year's RussMatt Invitational. UMD is 1-4 against the Lakers since 2017, with their last meeting resulting in a 4-5 loss for the Bulldogs last season.

The Wayne State University Warriors are 7-1 overall to start the 2024 season with their matchup with the Bulldogs being their first of this year's RussMatt Invitational. The Bulldogs are 4-8 against the Warriors since 2013, with the Bulldogs winning 3-2 in their most recent meeting last season.
