Four current University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey players have been named to their respective national teams ahead of the Bulldogs 2024-25 opener on September 21.

Sophomore goaltender Ève Gascon and freshman forward
Caitlin Kraemer were two of 48 players invited by Hockey Canada to join Canada's National Women's Team September Camp, presented by BFL CANADA, Sept. 9-15 at CanadaGames Park in Thorold, Ontario. Gascon and Kraemer will join former Bulldog All-American defensemen Ashton Bell and Jocelyne Larocque, as well as former All-American forward Élizabeth Giguère at camp. Former All-American and four-time Olympic gold medalist Caroline Ouellette will serve as an assistant coach for Canada, a roll the national team stalwart has held in some capacity since 2017.
The September camp will mark the first Canadian National Women's Team duty for Kraemer, who has been a powerhouse on the U-18 scene for Canada over her international career and concluded her U-18 career as Canada's all-time leading scorer. Gascon returns to the September Canadian National Team camp after also being invited to it as a freshman for UMD last fall. With two players on the squad, UMD is joined by only Ohio State University and Clarkson University as the only other college programs with two current players in Thorold.

Gascon and Kraemer join two other current Bulldogs in clocking in for national team duty. Sophomore defenseman
Ida Karlsson and fifth-year senior blueliner
Nina Jobst-Smith both skated in the Women's Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten, Switzerland last week. Karlsson skated for Sweden, and joined former teammate Paul Begstrom, as well as UMD All-American goaltender Emma Soderberg. Jobst-Smith hit the ice for Germany, and both went head-to-head with Bulldog All-American forward Lara Stalder of Switzerland and Katerina Mrazova of Czechia.
In all, with the addition of UMD's currently rostered crew, the Bulldogs as a program will have had 12 players in the last two weeks wear the jerseys of their respective national teams.

The Bulldogs will open the 2024-25 season in Columbus, Ohio against defending NCAA champion Buckeyes. That Western Collegiate Hockey Association series will get underway on Saturday, Sept. 21 and finish up on Sunday, Sept. 22. Saturday's game will get underway at 2:00 p.m., while Sunday's contest will begin at 12:00 p.m.
