After Shutting Out St. Cloud St., Gascon Named WCHA Goaltender of the Week

UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Competition
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.

For a third time this season, University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey goaltender Eve Gascon has been named the Western Collgiate Hockey Association's Goaltender of the Week.

Currently the reigning WCHA Goaltender of the Month, Gascon made all 48 saves she faced against then No. 8/9 St. Cloud State University over the weekend -- the first back-to-back game shutouts of the sophomore netminder's career. The native of Mascouche, Quebec currently has four shutouts on the season (the sixth most in the NCAA), and now owns 11 over her Bulldog career. Those 11 shutouts tie her for sixth all-time with legendary goaltender Jennifer Harss.

Gascon, now 11-4-1 on the season -- the most wins of her young Bulldog career in a single season already -- is also a two-time WCHA Goalender of the Month this season in addtion to her three weekly honors, and was also named the Hockey Commissioners Goaltender of the Month for December.

The Bulldogs, in the midst of a 10-game unbeaten streak, will host No. 2 Ohio State University this weekend at AMSOIL Arena. The Friday/Saturday series will get underway Friday at 6:00 p.m.
