The University of Minnesota Minnesota Duluth cross country teams ran their final regular season race Saturday morning at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill. on the Lewis Cross Country Course, and in the process logged plenty of season best times.
The Bulldog women had a brilliant showing, finishing 11th and defeating two nationally ranked teams in the race. Graduate
Shaelyn Hostager led the way with a 17th place effort in a season-best time of 21:58.19. Senior
Elizabeth VanLoon was UMD's second runner with another season best in 68th place with a time of 22:38.85, while sophomore
Claire Becker was the third Bulldog in 89th (22:56.65, another season best). Senior
Kira Almsberger (season best, 94th, 22:59.57) and junior
Ellie Hanowski (127th, 23:20.45) rounded out the team scoring for UMD in fourth and fifth, respectively.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs finished 35th overall, led by freshman
Isaac Dickenson, who ran a personal best of 26:22.30 (220). Sophmore
Connor Bialka was UMD's second finisher with a season best effort of 26:34.81 (243), while junior
Noah Foster also ran to a season best time of 26:57.72 as the Bulldogs third scoring runner (281st finisher overall). Junior
Nolan Bakken (season best, 27:38.62) and senior
Isaac Martel (season best, 27:52.22, 322th).
UMD will take next week off from outside competition ahead of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships which will take place Friday, Oct. 24 at the Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb.
