The University of Minnesota Duluth men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Central Region Championships Saturday morning, with the women finishing in 11th and the men in 24th on the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course in Joplin, Missouri.

The Bulldog women were led by Shaelyn Hostager, whose 10th place was the highest by a UMD runner in three seasons, and earned the graduate All-Region accolades. Hostager ran a 21:23.35 to pace the Bulldogs, whose next fastest runner was junior Ellie Hanowski in 36th with a time of 22:07.23. The next three point getters for UMD were senior Elizabeth VanLoon (53rd, 22:23.90), senior Kira Almsberger (83rd, 22:50.63) and sophomore Claire Becker (84th, 22:52.96).

Hostager will have to wait until Monday to find out if her final season of college competition will continue with a race in Kenosha, Wis. with a trip to the NCAA Cross Country Championships.

On the men's side, like he's done all season, freshman Isaac Dickenson led the way for UMD, finishing 81st with a time of 33:03.47. Junior Noah Foster placed second in 125th (33:58.55), while senior Isaac Martel finished 163rd in 34:52.55. Junior Nolan Bakken (166th, 35:04.28 and freshman Chase Thompson (180th, 36:07.37).
