The University of Minnesota Duluth Volleyball Team was taken down in four sets, 9-25, 19-25, 25-20, 20-25, by No. 5 Concordia-St. Paul in the opening round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Tournament Tuesday night at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Paige Decker led the Bulldogs with 13 kills and two block assists and
Madeline Guetzkow had 12 kills, seven digs and a service ace.
Ava Jones distributed 42 assists and added six digs, while
Madison Reed had a team-high 11 digs.

The Bulldogs (18-10, 11-9 NSIC) were outhit by the Golden Bears, .184 to .330. CSP (25-4, 19-1 NSIC) had more kills (48 to 46), service aces (13 to 5), digs (54 to 50) and blocks (8.0 to 2.0). UMD held the advantage in assists (46 to 45). Â

After dropping the first two sets, UMD rallied for a third-set win. The squad hit .519 in the set with Decker hitting .800 with four kills and Guetzkow hitting .714 with five kills to lead the way. The Bulldogs also held the Golden Bears to .286 hitting in the frame. After staying even through the first 20 points, UMD went up by two on a kill from
Xada Johnson and a service error from CSP. The home team evened it back up, 13-13, but a kill and a service ace from Guetzkow put UMD back on top by two points. The Maroon and Gold put together a 4-0 run to go up 21-15. The Golden Bears pulled within four points, 24-20, but a Guetzkow kill gave the win to the Bulldogs.

UMD fell down early in the fourth set, 9-15, and were not able to recover. It pulled within three points, 13-16, on a kill from
Kylie Broten, but a 4-0 run from the home team made the score 13-20. A 4-1 run late in the set brought the Maroon and Gold within four points, 20-24, but an error stopped the run and ended the match.
