Kraemer Named WCHA's Rookie of the Week

University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey freshman forward Caitlin Kraemer was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Rookie of the Week on Monday, the fourth time this season she has landed the honor.

The Waterloo, Ontario native scored three goals in the Bulldogs series against Bemidji State Univeristy on the road over the weekend, including both of UMD's goals Friday night in a 2-0 win. Kraemer posted both a shorthanded tally and a power play score Friday before tacking on a third goal in Saturday's 6-0 blowout of the Beavers. Kraemer also won 72.7% of the face-offs she took in the series and averaged 12 wins a game for the Bulldogs.

Kraemer, who in addition to being a now four-time WCHA Rookie of the Week selection, was also the league's Rookie of the Month for both November and September. Currently, the freshman is tied for UMD's goal lead with 14, and has 21 points in 30 games.

The Bulldogs return to AMSOIL Arena this weekend for their last regular season series of the year when they host Minnesota State University, Mankato. Game-time Friday is set for 3:00 p.m., while Saturday, which will double as senior day, will get underway at 1:00 p.m.
