Saturday the University of Minnesota Duluth indoor track and field teams will be headed just across the bridge to compete in University of Wisconsin Superior's fourth annual Maday Classic.
The meet, which honors late Yellowjacket student-athlete and assistant coach Sam Maday, will feature local competition such as Lakehead University and the College of Saint Scholastica, as well as host UWS.
Field events are scheduled to begin at 11:35 a.m., following a moment of silence at 11:30 a.m. The 4x1600m race will be the first of the day's running events at 12:00 p.m.
"We are looking forward to using this weekend's meet to gain competitive confidence going into the final stretch of the indoor season," said Head Coach Karly Brautigam. "Hopefully we walk away with a sense that we are that much closer to meeting our goals at the conference and national levels."
Distance Coach Brette Jensen echoed Brautigam's sentiments. "As we head into the final few meets of our regular season, we are excited for the competitive opportunities to sharpen up in our respective events," she said. "This weekend will allow us to hone in on skills and position us well as we head into the championship portion of our season. We're excited to continue to compete and keep the momentum rolling!"
