The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team continued their four game series against the Minnesota State University Mankato Mavericks this afternoon, falling in both games to MSU at Bowyer Field in Mankato, Minn.

Game One: UMD (0) - MSU (4)

The Mavericks got on the board first to open up the two game day, earning an RBI single from Louis Magers in the bottom of the first to gain an early 1-0.

MSU would add two more runs in the following inning and a run in the bottom of the fourth, shutting out the Bulldogs throughout the game to give UMD the 4-0 loss.

Game Two: UMD (5) - MSU (15)

Minnesota State tallied the first runs in game two, jumping out to a 2-0 lead on a two run home run from Ike Mezzenga in the bottom of the first.Â

The Bulldogs responded hard in the next inning, getting their first runner in scoring position after Garrett Stauffacher reached on a HBP and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Thomas Hanson scored Stauffacher on his at bat with his second triple of the season out to right center field, tying things up at 1-1. Henry Bushey got in on the action with a two run blast of his own over the right field, giving the Bulldogs their first lead of the day at 3-2.

The momentum continued to roll for UMD in the following inning, juicing the bases with a double from Gabe Richardson and back to back walks for Nathan Rosenberg and Troy Lynch. In prime position to add on to their lead, Ethan Pettis poked a two run RBI single down the right field line to bring the Bulldog lead up to 5-2.

A four run bottom of the third and a seven run rally in the bottom of the sixth helped the Mavericks force an early end to game two, handing the Bulldogs the 15-5 loss in the final game of the afternoon.
