Two University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey players earned Western Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Month for February honors. After an absolute offensive outburst last month, Olivia Wallin was named the WCHA's Forward of the Month, while Caitlin Kraemer was named the WCHA's Rookie of the Month.

Wallin had an explosive month and led the league with 15 points over seven games at a 2.14 points per game average. The native of Oakville, Ontario also led the WCHA with nine assists and recorded four multiple point games -- half of the games she skated in. Over those games, three were skates with three or more points, including a career-high six points (2g, 4a) against Minnesota State on Feb. 14. Wallin's game-winner with five seconds left in last Friday's comeback over St. Cloud State University in the opening game of the WCHA First Round highlighted her month -- she had three points (1g, 2a) -- figuring in all three goals in that game.

Kraemer scored the second most goals in the WCHA last month (seven) and led the league in power play goals (4). The product of Waterloo, Ontario logged four multiple point games -- half of all the games she played in February. Kraemer also led the WCHA in face-off wins per game (12.13) and total wins (97). The rookie recorded 1.42 points per game and recorded points in six of those eight games played (11 points).

While this is Wallin's first monthly league award, this marks the third time this season Kraemer has been the WCHA's Rookie of the Month. Kraemer has now claimed three of a possible six league monthly awards this year.

Wallin, Kraemer and the rest of the Bulldogs will host the top-ranked University of Wisconsin this Friday in the opening game of the WCHA's Final Faceoff Semifinals. The puck is set to drop at 1:00 p.m.
