The No. 16 University of Minnesota Duluth Volleyball Team (10-0, 3-0 NSIC) won its 10th-consecutive match with a 25-21, 25-12, 25-17 sweep of Bemidji State (3-8, 0-3 NSIC) in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action Tuesday night at Romano Gymnasium.

Madeline Guetzkow paced the offense with 14 kills on .522 hitting, while fellow junior
Paige Decker hit .733 with 11 kills. Senior
Kylie Broten recorded 10 kills on .474 hitting, and freshman
Mollie Rupp added a .500 hitting percentage with nine kills.

Decker's .733 hitting percentage ties for the sixth-highest mark for a single match in NCAA Division II this season on 15-19 attempts and is the highest for a Bulldog since Broten hit .750 at Minnesota State Moorhead on Oct. 25, 2024.

As a team, the Bulldogs hit .452 with only four attack errors, its best offensive outing since Sept. 15, 2023 when it hit .488 at Mary. The hitting percentage mark also ranks No. 24 nationally this season for a three-set match. UMD's four attack errors, all of which came in the first set, are its fewest in a match since Oct. 18, 2016 when it had just four attack errors in a home sweep of St. Cloud State. Â

Along with outhitting the Beavers .452-.142, the Bulldogs also held the advantage in kills (46-36), assists (44-32), digs (45-38) and team blocks (9.0-1.0).

Guetzkow, Broten and Rupp combined for 13 kills to lead UMD to a 25-21 opening-set victory. The home team hit .324 to BSU's .100 and had two more digs and one more block than the visitors. The two teams traded leads to begin the contest, before the Maroon and Gold built a four-point advantage, 13-9, thanks to a 7-3 run. The Beavers fought back to within one point of UMD three times, but three attack errors and a kill from Broten put the set away.

UMD turned it on in the second set, taking it 25-12, while outhitting Bemidji .483 to .031 and getting 5.0 team blocks from its defense. The two teams were even 5-5 early in the set, but the Bulldogs strung together a 12-2 run to take a commanding 17-7 lead. They allowed only five more points to the Beavers to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

Bemidji State hung with UMD through the first 19 points of the third set, but a 5-0 run, which included three kills and a block assist from Decker, put the Bulldogs ahead 14-10. The Beavers would pull within three points, 19-16, but a 6-1 run from the home team wrapped up the match. Decker added two more kills during the final run and had eight total in the third set while hitting .889. UMD hit .548 as a team in the final frame and did not commit an error.

The Bulldogs hit the road for a pair of league contests Friday, Sept. 26 at No. 14 Wayne State at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 27 at Augustana at 5 p.m. Â
