UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Classroom
Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community.
Eight University of Minnesota Duluth football student athletes were selected by the College Sports Communicators to the 2025 Academic All-District Football Team Tuesday.
The All-District honors were awarded to redshirt senior
Kyle Walljasper, redshirt senior
Joey Grillo, sophomore
Ben Fritsch, redshirt sophomore
Carter Geerts, sophomore
Brock Unger, redshirt junior
Jayce Walrath, redshirt junior
Nick Ojile, and redshirt sophomore
Joey Krouse – Walljasper, Geerts, and Krouse – denoted eligible to advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Jan. 27, 2026.
Seven of the selectees were recently named to the NSIC Fall All-Academic Team (Walljasper, Grillo, Geerts, Unger, Walrath, Ojile, and Krouse), with six of them earning NSIC Academic Team of Excellence status (Walljasper, Geerts, Unger, Walrath, Ojile, and Krouse), awarded only to student athletes who have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
