Minutes after being named to the Canadian National Team's World Championship Team, University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey goaltender Eve Gascon was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association's Goaltender of the Week for her shutout series against Bemidji State University over the weekend.

Despite not being able to practice with the Bulldogs last week due to Team Canada Camp duties, the senior netminder stepped off a plane and got on a bus to Bemidji, Minn. and secured two shutouts for the Bulldogs, her second series shutout of the season. Friday night Gascon became UMD's all-time career shutout leader with her 24th career shutout, and made it 25 on Saturday. The native of Mascouche, Quebec had 42 saves in the weekend en route to her third and fourth shutouts -- she has four shutouts in five games played already this season.

Among goaltenders that have played three or more games, Gascon ranks first in GAA (0.40), saves percentage (.982) and wins (5) and leads the NCAA outright in shutouts with four – double the netminders in second.
