UMD Men's Hockey Unveils Entire 2026-27 Schedule

The University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey team released its full 2026-27 schedule Tuesday for what will be the 83rd season in program history and just second season with games outside of the United States.

The Bulldogs will open with four non conference series, beginning with a program-first meeting of Long Island University at AMSOIL Arena on Oct. 2-3. UMD will follow that up with a return visit and first series ever played on the campus of Augustana University on Oct. 16-17.

The University of Minnesota will return to AMSOIL for a series on Oct. 16-17 before the Bulldogs wrap up their non conference schedule will a home and home against Bemidji State University in Duluth on Oct. 23 and in Bemidji, Minn. on Oct. 24.

UMD will drop the puck on on the National Collegiate Hockey Conference schedule against the Miami University (Ohio) Nov. 6-7 at AMSOIL, and will play its last home series of the 2026 side of the schedule on Nov. 20-21 against Arizona State University.

For just the second time in program history, the Bulldogs will cross an ocean to play games when they travel to Belfast, Northern Ireland to participate in the Friendship Four on Nov. 27-28, just the second NCHC team to be a part of the tournament. The three other teams in the tournament are the University of Connecticut, Providence College, and Colgate University.

UMD will concluded the 2026 portion of its season in Grand Forks, ND with the first of two series against the NCAA Frozen Four participant University of North Dakota on Dec. 11-12.

2027 will open up with an exhibition on Jan. 2 against the University of Manitoba on Jan. 2, followed by an NCHC series against Colorado College on Jan. 8-9.

Other notable home games for the Bulldogs is a series against defending NCAA champions the University of Denver on Jan. 22-23 at AMSOIL, a series with newly minted NCHC member University of St. Thomas on Feb. 12-13 and the final home regular season series of the season with the Fighting Hawks on Feb. 26-27.

In all, UMD will skate in 34 regular season games next season, with 17 set to be played at home. Three opponents they are scheduled to play – all in conference action – were 2026 NCAA Tournament participants (the Pioneers, UND and Western Michigan University.)

The Bulldogs NCHC travel partner next season will be the Fighting Hawks -- each team will always play their travel partner four times each season (one home/one away series). Along with their travel partner, each team will face two other opponents both home and away per season. The other six opponents each team will only face once per year, either a home or away series. Everyone will face each other in at least one series during the season.

With 10 teams, the NCHC will have a new postseason format for the Frozen Faceoff, but it will remain entirely on campus sites. All 10 teams will make the Frozen Faceoff under the new format, which is listed at the end of the attached schedule and spelled out in detail here: https://nchchockey.com/sports/2022/6/22/format.aspx.

UMD finished the 2025-26 season 24-15-1 overall and advanced to the NCAA Regional Final for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
