The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team swept the University of Minnesota Duluth in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader held in Madison, Wis. at the Duck Pond at Warner Park Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles defeated the Bulldogs 4-3 in the first game and 17-7 in game two.

Game One, 4-3 UMD Loss
UMD scored all three of its runs in the third and fourth innings, highlighted by a home run, but it was not enough to overcome the two home runs by UMC.

The Golden Eagles took an early lead in the second inning. A sacrifice fly from Kappes allowed Fliflet to score, followed by Miller's single that brought Hebl home. The inning ended with UMC leading 2–0.

In the third inning, the Bulldogs responded. Gabe Richardson singled to left field, driving in Michael Gabbard, narrowing the gap to 2–1.

The Bulldogs gained momentum in the fourth inning when Logan Myers doubled and Henry Bushey hit a two-run homer to center field, bringing Myers home and tying the game at 3–3. However, the Golden Eagles' homered in their half, reclaiming a 4–3 lead.

UMC extended their lead in the fifth inning with a solo home run from Miller, making it 4–3.

The game concluded with UMC securing a narrow victory over UMD, 4–3.

Henry Wilkinson pitched seven innings for the Bulldogs, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. Despite giving up two home runs, Wilkinson struck out six batters without issuing a walk on 102 total pitches, exceeding his season average of 12.81 pitches per inning. Wilkinson faced 30 batters and induced 11 flyouts and four groundouts in his outing.

Myers contributed with two doubles and scored once for UMDB, while ushey tallied a home run and drove in two runs. Richardson added a hit and one RBI, and Thomas Hanson achieved a season-high total of five putouts, adding a defensive highlight for the Bulldogs.
Game Two, 17-7 UMD Loss
The Bulldogs managed eight hits and scored seven runs but were unable to contain the Golden Eagles, who tallied 16 hits and 17 runs, including an 11-run surge in the ninth inning.

UMD opened the scoring in the third inning when Thomas Hanson doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch, setting up Sam Kliber's RBI single that brought Hanson home. The Bulldogs led 1–0 after three innings.

In the fourth, UMC responded with a home run by Bushbaum and a wild pitch that allowed another run to score, taking a 2–1 lead. Troy Lynch scored on a steal of home, leveling the score at 2–2 by the end of the inning.

The Golden Eagles added a run in the fifth inning with a single by Miller, giving them a 3–2 advantage. UMD had a quiet bottom of the inning, ending the fifth down by one run.

UMD reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning. Lynch and Logan Myers both scored, aided by an error and a wild pitch, putting the Bulldogs ahead 4–3.

UMC retook the lead in the seventh inning with three runs, and UMD trailed 6-4 heading into the eighth inning.

The eighth inning was scoreless, but the Golden Eagles came alive in the ninth to score 11 runs, widening their lead significantly. The Bulldogs managed to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth, with scores from Kliber, Hayden Anthony, and Gabe Richardson. However, it was not enough to overcome the final 17-7 deficit.

Joe Herrick led the Bulldogs on the mound, pitching three 1/3 innings and allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out one. Caden Klebba contributed three innings of relief, giving up four earned runs on five hits and striking out four. Jacob Haughton faced four batters without recording an out, allowing four earned runs. Blake Eiden also faced four batters and did not record an out, surrendering four earned runs.

Lynch posted a strong performance, scoring two runs and collecting three hits while also adding an RBI. Myers contributed with two hits and scored a run, while Hanson recorded a double and scored a run, adding depth to the team's offensive effort. Michael Gabbard excelled on defense with eight assists.

The Bulldogs (7-24, 6-13) will face UMC again Saturday in Madison at noon.
