It's a doubleheader that has changed location, as well as changed its date, but Thursday, the University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team will finally square off against Concordia University St. Paul on Barnes Field in St. Paul, Minn. Game one will get underway at 12:00 p.m., while game two is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

THE SERIES: UMD carries a two-game winning streak into play on Thursday after the Bulldogs swept the Golden Bears last season on April 30, 2025 in St. Paul by scores of 8-2 and 27-22. In the high scoring second game, UMD had season-highs for at bats (48), runs scored (27), hits (22) and RBIs (25), as well as home runs (5) and fielding assists (14). It also marked the the most runs allowed (22),and hits allowed (24).

UMD is just 3-7 in its last 10 games against CSP but 27-22 since the 2014 season.

LAST TIME OUT: The Bulldogs went 1-2 against the University of Minnesota Crookston in Madison, Wis. UMD lost the first two games 3-4 and 7-17 before winning game three on Saturday 7-3. In the final game, Troy Lynch recorded two RBIs and added a double, while Henry Bushey collected three hits and scored two runs, demonstrating his impact at the plate. Michael Gabbard hit a triple, notching two hits and an RBI and scoring once.

Overall, UMD is 8-24 and 7-13 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

RICHARDSON'S ON A ROLL: Senior Gabe Richardson is currently on a eight-game hitting streak, with 10 hits in those outings since March 28 in Sioux Falls. Richardson also have an eight-game reached base streak, and has had 10 games with two or more hits, including two with three or more.

Richardson leads UMD with a .339 batting average on 115 at bats. The senior infielder from Eau Claire, Wis. has a team-high 39 hits, 11 doubles and 28 RBIs, as well as four home runs.

UP NEXT: The Bulldogs are scheduled to host the University of Jamestown this weekend in Duluth, Minn. with two games on Saturday (1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.) and one game on Sunday (12:00 p.m.) in NSIC play. The games would mark UMD's first home games of the season – however, it has not been determined yet whether or not the games will remain in Duluth.
