The University of Minnesota Duluth Women's Soccer team travels to North Dakota this weekend to take on the Mary Marauders and Minot State Beavers. UMD plays Mary on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Bismarck, and will face Minot State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Weekend Preview

vs. MARY: UMD holds a slight edge against Mary all-time, with the Bulldogs holding a 8-7-6 all-time record heading into the 22nd matchup. However, the Bulldogs have had some trouble with the Marauders in recent years, going 0-5-5 against them since UMD's last win in 2014.

In their last contest, the Bulldogs and Marauders went back-and-forth in a 2-2 draw. Dina Polanco scored the first goal for Mary, but the Bulldogs struck back seven minutes later from a goal by Elaina Shromoff. Mary retook the lead in the 60th minute from Chloe Brand, but Jessica Eischens responded seven minutes later, notting the score at 2-2, and giving the Bulldogs one point in the contest.

Mary enters the weekend 3-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the NSIC. The Marauders took a pair of 1-0 victories last weekend and were honored with NSIC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors off of performances by Dina Polanco and Harlee Peltz. Dina Polanco will be a key offensive driver for Mary, having scored 7 of their 10 goals. Mary is even on goal differential, having conceded 10 as well.

vs. MINOT STATE: UMD has struggled against Minot State historically, going 4-9-0 against the Beavers all-time. UMD is currently on a two-game losing streak against Minot State, with their last win coming in 2023.

In their last contest, Minot State took a solid 3-1 win in Duluth. Three Beavers scored, including Sabrina Amezcua, Brittney Egbert, and Anna Miotto. All three goals for Minot State were in the first half. UMD would salvage a goal off of a Alyssa Doyle penalty kick in the 87th minute.

Minot State enters the weekend 2-5-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the NSIC. Minot went 1-1 on the previous weekend, beating Winona State 2-0 before falling to Concordia-St. Paul 0-2. The Beavers have only scored three goals so far, with the scorers being Elsa Duquesne, Adriana Gonzalez, and Iliana Rivera. Minot State has been outscored 3-10.

CORNER KICKS DELIVER: The Bulldogs have been dominant on corners so far, now having netting 6 of 9 goals off of corner kicks. UMD holds the total corner kicking edge on their opponents, 48-26, and leads the NSIC in total corner kicks, averaging nearly seven a game.

DEFENSE HOLDING STRONG: The Bulldogs have only conceded four goals in seven games, averaging 0.57 goals conceded per game, continuing a strong defensive pace as UMD looks for their first season conceding less than one goal per game since 2018.

BULLDOG NOTES: The Bulldogs are outscoring their opponents nine to four so far in the 2026, campaign, and hold a 4-1-2 record entering the weekend. Lauren McGough leads the way for the Bulldogs, with four goals through seven games, including the game winner in last week's 1-0 victory against Wayne State. Nora Helvig scored the other goal on the weekend in a 1-1 draw with Augustana. Edy Halverson earned her fourth shutout of the season, the most by a UMD goaltender since 2023. With another shutout, she will have the most shutouts by a UMD goaltender since 2014. Gwendolyn Lilly and Julia Skarda are the team leaders in minutes with 616 and 594 respectively. Nora Helvig leads the way with shots with 20, followed by Kaitlyn Beavers with 12. Five Bulldogs have found the back of the net so far this season.
