BULLDOG CAREER:
2016 (Junior) Player 43 games including 36 as the Bulldogs' starting shortstop · hit a triple and scored a run in his season debut at Pittsburg State on Feb. 19 · went 3-for-3 with a run scored at Minnesota State on March 29 · went 3-for-3, scored three runs, and drove in two at Sioux Falls on April 9 · went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored against Concordia-St. Paul on April 17 · went 1-for-2 and scored a run against Southwestern Oklahoma State in the NCAA Tournament on May 20 · NSIC All-Academic Team.
2015 (Sophomore) Started 27 games at shortstop, appearing in 35 for UMD · started the season off with a 2-for-6 debut, driving in two runs with a triple against Northwood (Mich.) on Mar. 13 · went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader against St. Michael's (Vt.) on Mar. 17 · Went 5-for-8 with four runs scored, an RBI, and a two-bagger in a doubleheader against Minot State on May 1 · selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team.
2014 (Freshman) Cracked the line-up in 24 games including 19 starts in the middle infield · dropped his first collegiate hit and run scored against Saint Michael's on Mar. 16 · had a triple and two runs scored in a doubleheader against Augustana (S.D.) on Apr. 12 · had three runs batted in on a 2-for-4 game  against Sioux Falls on Apr. 18 · closed out the regular season going 3-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs, and a run scored against Minnesota-Crookston on May 4.

BEFORE UMD: A 2013 graduate of Ames High School · played five seasons for coach Eric Bappe and the Little Cyclones while starting three · named an All-Central Iowa Metro League selection in his senior season and anhonorable mention in his sophomore and junior seasons · three-time all-academic team selection · team captain in his senior campaign · also started two years for the Ames soccer team as a midfielder and forward, making a state tournament appearance in his junior season.
PERSONAL: Born Brian Clayton Pierce on Apr. 9, 1995 in Ames, Iowa · son of Ann and Clay Pierce · has a sister, Sophie · received American Legion Distinguished Academic Achievement award · participated in band, Eco Club, and Garden club, as well as club soccer · interests include sports, skiing, fishing, and travel · majoring in management information systems at UMD.
