AS A BULLDOG

2012: Saw his playing time increase in his second collegiate go-around, entering 27 games overall and making 18 starts … patrolled left field for 17 of UMD’s 51 games without recording an error … hit .210 with five RBIs and seven runs scored in 62 at bats … named to the 2011-12 NSIC All-Academic Team.

2011: Broke into the collegiate game by making 19 appearances on the year, including six starts (four in the outfield, two as the designated hitter) … hit .323 with three walks for a .417 on base percentage in 31 at bats … drove in four runs and came around to touch home plate five times as a baserunner … put together two multi-hit games, including a three-hit (3-for-3), three-RBI performance March 15, 2011 at Minnesota Crookston.

BEFORE UMD

Is a 2011 graduate of Superior High School (Wis.), where he was a three-year starter on the diamond ... named to the All-Lake Superior Conference second team as a junior and followed that up by landing first team honors as a senior ... served as a team captain for the Spartans during his final prep season ... played on all sides of the ball with the Superior football team, holding down the quarterback, strong safety and punter positions ... earned All-Conference honors as a punter ... laced up with the Spartan hockey team for three seasons. 

PERSONAL

Son of James and Julianne McCoshen ... has two sisters (Maria, Shannon and Liza) and one brother (Sean) ... majoring in civil engineering at UMD.
