BEFORE UMD: A 2018 graduate of Virginia High School • was a 1,000-point scorer for head coach Rich Odell who recorded a 104-31 in his five seasons • fourth all-time in scoring at Virginia with 1,631 points • averaged 19.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, and 2.4 assists for the Blue Devils his senior season • was named to Duluth News Tribune All-area First Team in 2016-18 • a three-time All-Iron Range Conference player • claimed the following honors, in addition, his senior season: semi-finalist for the Bob McDonald Award, semi-finalist for Mr. Basketball • Minnesota Basketball Coach's Association All-Star, Border Battle All-Star member • a three-sport athlete at Virginia High School • played football for four seasons and was a successful state tennis player • state participation in 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th • took home second place in singles in 2017, doubles consolation champs in 2017, and doubles second place in 2018.

PERSONAL: Born Ethan Frank Youso in Virginia, Minn. • son of Shawn and Jody Youso • has one older sister, Jessa • Youso's grandfather, Frank, played National Football League with the New York Giants, the Minnesota Vikings and the Oakland Raiders • outside of the sports landscape, he was a 4.0 student and a valedictorian • was also in student council, athlete council, NHS, A-Honor Roll, Harvard Book Award, Knowledge Bowl, and part of the wind ensemble • will major in computer science at UMD.
