Biography

AS A BULLDOG:
2021: Appeared in ten games for the Bulldogs in 2021 eight of those in a starting role. Amassed 39.0 innings pitched surrendered 45 hits and 20 walks while striking out 39. Was his third season in his Bulldog career where he held opponents to a sub .300 batting average against him.  

2020: Made two appearances in the shortened 2020 season, both as a starter. Pitched 8.2 innings only surrendered eight hits and four earned runs. Struck out 12 opposing batters and held them to a .242 average. Carried an earned run average of 4.15 and a record of 1-1. 

2019: Had six starts while appearing in nine games ... gathered 21 strikeouts ... lead the team with 53 fly ball outs ... fifth on the team in ground ball outs with 31 ... pitched 37.2 innings (second on the team).

2018: Made his collegiate debut on March 1 against Bemidji State, recording one strikeout in one inning of relief ... Made 11 relief appearances overall for the Bulldogs (second most on the team) covering 12.0 innings ... proved to be effective in clutch situations, holding the opposition to a team-best batting average with runners on base (.192) and with two outs (.118) ... right handed hitter mustered a .222 batting average of him (another Bulldog best) ... enjoyed his most productive outing as a rookie against Minot State on April 15 when he struck out four in two innings of work. 

BEFORE UMD: Started two seasons for head coach Brian Sobiech and the Armstrong High School Falcons ... named a team captain for senior season ... earned All-Northwest Suburban Conference Honors following the 2016 campaign .. while playing for his American Legion team, Waletzki hit .350 with a pair of home runs and also tossed a no-hitter ... Waletzki has also been a two-year starter for the Falcon hockey team as a forward.
PERSONAL: Born Mitchell Paul Waletzki ... sis the son of Darrin and Eydie Waletzki ... has two siblings (Alicia and Justin) ... is majoring in criminology at UMD.
