AS A BULLDOG:

2021: Made four relief appearances during the 2021 season. Amassed 2.2 innings pitched, surrendered four hits, five earned runs, and three walks. Struck out one batter on the year. 

2020: Made no appearances in the 2020 season. 

2019: Made 12 appearances for UMD, amassing 8.1 innings ... nabbed his first collegiate career win against the University of Sioux Falls on Mar. 9, 2019 ... finished the season holding opposing batters to a .282 average ... struck out six on the season.
BEFORE UMD:  Is a 2018 graduate of Burnsville H.S. .. pitched for three seasons with the Blaze ... threw two gems in the 2018 Minnesota Section 3AAAA playoffs, tossing  a two-hit shutout in a 2-0 takedown of Hastings High School and allowed just one earned run in six innings in a 1-0 final-round loss to Eastview H.S. ... was selected to play in the Minnesota All-Star series on June 22-23 in Chaska, Minn.
PERSONAL: Born Zachary Paul Matthews in Minneapolis, Minn. ... is the sone of Joe and Stephanie Matthews ... has one older brother (Paul) ... is majoring in mechanical engineering at UMD.
