Biography
2022-23 (R-Senior): Blair continued his dominance over the NSIC, leading the Bulldogs with 718 total points and 45 steals. The offensive powerhouse added to his trophy room with an all conference first team nomination, all NSIC tournament team honors, and a spot on the D2CCA all central region second team for his performance throughout the regular season. Blair helped lead the Bulldogs to their first NCAA Elite Eight appearance in program history, collecting the Most Oustanding Player honors in the team's 62-52 win over Southern Nazerene.
2021-22 (R-Junior): Drew Blair picked up where he left off as he was once again one of the top players in the conference. Blair started in every game this season on his way to being the Bulldogs leading scorer and 5th leading scorer in the conference (18.6 ppg). Blair also improved on the defensive side of the ball as he tallied a career high in steals and rebounds for the Bulldogs. Blair's play during the season earned him two NSIC North Player of the Week awards, was named First Team All-Conference, and was named to the NABC All-Region Team. Blair was an integral part of a Bulldogs offense that ranked first in the NSIC and 13th nationally in points per game (85.6 ppg). Blair was also crucial in the Bulldogs run to the conference tournament championship game as he had a game high 29 points in the Bulldogs win over Upper Iowa. Blair helped contribute to the Bulldogs first NCAA tournament appearance since 2003, their highest ever national ranking (No. 5), and the most wins in a season in over 30 years.
2020-21 (R-Sophomore): Drew Blair picked up right where he left off as he continued to solidify his status as a must-watch player in the NSIC. Blair was always on the floor for UMD, he started 13 of 13 games on the 2020-21 campaign and averaged 34.7 minutes per game the most of any Bulldog. Blair led the Bulldogs in points per game this season posting 18.8 per game, that is also good for 4th in the NSIC. Blair shot 43.% from the field during the shortened campaign, and 34.5% from beyond the arc. As Blair's stock rose teams started to pay more attention to him on the offensive end of the court allowing his teammates open looks, Blair realized this and in turn averaged 2.8 assists per game on the season which ranked second on the Bulldogs. Blair was again recognized by the NSIC as he was again selected to the All-NSIC Second Team following the 2020-21 regular season.
2019-20 (Freshman): Not only did Blair appear in almost every game in his first year, but also started 30 of 31 games in his freshman campaign, Blair was able to wow the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in his first year and was shown recognition by receiving a spot on the All-NSIC Second Team. Blair was able drop 15.9 points a game, good for second with UMD and 13th in the NSIC. He was also to sit third on the team in FG% with a .490 from the floor, was best on the Bulldogs with a .875 FT% (third best in NSIC) and was second on the team in 3's per game with 1.9 (20th in NSIC). Blair also was second on the team with 1.2 steals per game (ninth in NSIC). He managed to play 31.2 minutes a night and was able to hit .397 from beyond the arc. Blair also finished out the year with 4.4 rebounds per game.
BEFORE UMD: Is a 2018 graduate of Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) in Stevens Point, Wis. .... transferred from Northwest Missouri State University and joined the UMD program for 2019 spring semester ... averaged 28.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game during his senior season with the Panthers ....helped lead SPASH to a pair of Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division I championships during his prep career ... was twice named a WBCA All-State performer in Wisconsin and also bestowed with first team Associated Press All-State citatation as well ... landed the Wisconsin Valley Conference Player of the Year award on two occasions in addition to being two-time first team all-conference honoree ... was a wissports.net Top Shooter award winner after netting the single season scoring record (753) at SPASH ... played travel AAU basketball with the Wisconsin Academy club.
