AS A BULLDOG:
2018-19: Became even more of a difference maker on the UMD blue line ... owned the best plus minus rating (+22) of any Bulldog, sharing the top with defensive partner Mikey Anderson ... eclipsed his rookie season marks for both scoring (19 points) and goals (seven) ... was a central figure on the UMD power play ... finished with a negative plus-minus rating only six times in 39 games ... struck for a goal and an assist in UMD's 4-1 triumph over Providence College in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals, one of his four, multi-point nights on the year ... skated with Team USA for the second consecutive year at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships (becoming just the fourth Bulldog to ever make a repeat visit) ... helped lead that contingent (which included collegiate teammates Mikey Anderson and Noah Cates) to a silver medal.
2017-18: Made the challenging jump from high school to big-time college hockey appear almost seamless ... manned the left point for 42 games and accumulated a nifty 12 points (one goal and 11 assists) along the way ... blocked a team-leading 76 shots as well, and his 1.81 blocks-per-game average was bettered by only three other rookie defensemen in the entire country ... was the lone Bulldog to pick up more than one point (two assists) at the two-day NCAA West Regional, earning him a spot on that event’s All-Tournament Team ... went scoreless in each of his first four games as a collegian before busting out with a three-point evening (all assists) against visiting Merrimack on Oct. 20 (a 5-5 deadlock) ... recorded his first Bulldog goal (on the power play) and set up another score in a 8-0 takedown of Western Michigan on Feb. 23 in Kalamazoo, Mich ... was the owner of 2017-18 UMD single-game highs for penalties (four) and penalty minutes (19), which he both accrued on the second night of the season versus Michigan Tech ...spent his Christmas and New Year’s break with teammates Mikey and Joey Anderson, Scott Perunovich and Riley Tufte strutting their stuff -- and winning a bronze medal -- for Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championship.
BEFORE UMD: Had few equals when it came to impact players in the Minnesota prep ranks ... was the 2016-17 recipient of the Reed Larson Award (Minnesota high school senior defenseman of the year) ... captained Hermantown High School to its second consecutive Minnesota Class A Tournament title in 2017, amassing 11 goals -- including the game-winner in double overtime in the state championship bout against Monticello-Annandale-Maple Lake -- and 34 points in the process ... was a finalist for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award as a senior in addition to securing Associated Press All-State (first team), All-Lake Superior Conference and Duluth News-Tribune All-Area honors ... went on to take shifts in 14 USHL regular season and playoff games last spring with the Waterloo Black Hawks and had five points and a plus-5 rating to show for it ... also was a four-year golf standout at Hermantown High School and in 2016 captured the Minnesota Section 7AA individual medalist ... became the top Minnesota high schooler chosen in the 2017 NHL Draft when Winnipeg selected him in the second round (43rd pick overall).
