Biography
2021-22 (Sophomore): Zach Lea appeared in 28 games for the Bulldogs this year. Lea provided a high energy and a strong defensive presence for the Bulldogs coming off of the bench this season. Lea was a reliable ball handler at times for the Bulldogs as well as Lea tallied just 5 turnovers all season.Â
2020-21 (Freshman): Lea appeared in all thirteen UMD contests during the 2020-21 season and got the starting nod in four of the thirteen. The freshman averaged 17.6 points per game. Lea was consistently the first player to come off the bench for the Bulldogs as he provided great defense against opponents top scorers. Lea averaged 2.0 points per game and 1.7 assists per game. He shot 33.3% from beyond the arc and 40.0% from the field.Â
BEFORE UMD: Zach comes to the Bulldogs after playing high school basketball at Chaska High School. Lea was the No. 33 ranked prospect in the 2020 class by Prep Hoops Minnesota. He averaged 9.4 points, 4.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game while playing in one of the toughest sections in the metro area. Lea served as captain in his senior year. Lea also played with the Minnesota Fury AAU Club.
