2015 (Junior) Voted one of the team's best newcomers while making nine starts in his first season at UMD · allowed two or fewer runs in five of nine starts, including a seven-strikeout, six-inning performance against Sioux Falls on Mar. 20  · threw six shutout innings, allowing four hits, against U-Mary on Apr. 25 · allowed just one earned run in 7.2 innings against No. 1 St. Cloud State in the NSIC/U.S. Bank Tournament on May 7.

BEFORE UMD A 2012 graduate of Bishop Garrigan High School · pitched two seasons for Iowa Central Community College before joining UMD · started four seasons for coach Rob Meister and the Bishop Garrigan Bears · received All-Iowa State selections as a junior and senior · named Class A Player of the Year as a senior · received All-District, All-Area, and All-North Central Conference honors in four seasons at Bishop Garrigan · also earned All-Conference honors as a guard in basketball and qualified for state in the high jump in track & field.

PERSONAL Born Austin Dean Vaske on Nov. 17, 1993 in Mason City, Iowa · son of Denise and Keith Vaske · has one sister, Olivia · a member of National Honor Society and Christian Leadership in Action at Bishop Garrigan · enjoys video games and watching sports when off the diamond · majoring in environmental science at UMD.
