Jake Malec

Malec comes to Duluth after serving on the coaching staff at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Prior to his time at Sacred Heart, Malec was a coach/instructor at Connecticut Sports Performance. 

Malec starred as a student-athlete at North Dakota State University for the baseball program. The outfielder/first baseman started all 61 games in his final collegiate season hitting .320 in 247 at-bats with 79 hits, including seven doubles, four triples and nine home runs. He set NDSU single-season records for at-bats (247) and games played (61) and ranked fourth in NDSU history in hits (79), while he was fifth in runs scored (60) and total bases (121). Malec's 16 stolen bases and 13 times being hit by a pitch both rank ninth in school history, while his four triples are the 10th most in a single-season at NDSU. He finished his career at NDSU eighth in stolen bases with 35. Malec was named to the Summit League Championship All-Tournament Team, where he was named the MVP and was an All-Summit League First Team selection in the outfield.

Malec went on to play professionally for the Great Falls Voyagers in Great Falls, Montana
