An addition to the Bulldog baseball coaching staff for 2018-19, Kevin Folman closed the books on a rewarding four-year career at North Dakota State University this past May, posting the second-most saves (15) in program history. The two-time Bison team captain and 2018 All-Summit League second team selection went on to pitch Sioux Falls Canaries. After a short stint with that American Association of Independent Professional Baseball club, Folman had his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox on June 25. He subsequently was assigned to the Arizona Leagues' White Sox before moving on to the Great Falls Voyagers (Pioneer League). In his eight appearances with those two rookie league franchises, the Hermantown, Minn., native made seven starts and went 2-3 with a 4.35 earned run average over 39 1/3 innings.Â
A Summit League All-Academic Team pick as a junior and a senior, Folman graduated from North Dakota State in May 2018 with a B.S. degree in mathematics education.
