Mike Darley makes his coaching debut at his alma mater in 2014 and as an assistant coach will oversee the Bulldog catchers and infielders in addition to working with the offense.  

During the past year, Darley was the hitting coach for the Eau Claire Cavaliers of the Wisconsin State League and also the assistant coach at Virginia (Minn.) High School.

Darley was a four-year lettermen with the Bulldogs (2009-12) and during his collegiate tenure was used at seven different positions (all but shortstop and first base). As a senior team captain in 2012, he was one of just two Bulldogs to appear in all 51 games and ranked second on the club in total bases, doubles and at bats. Darley also was hit by pitch 12 times -- one shy of the school record -- that spring. One year earlier, he paced all Bulldog starters in hitting with a career-high .342 average to go wqith a .447 on-base percentage. Darley appeared in 118 lifetimes games with the Bulldogs (89 as a starter) and hit at a .325 clip.

The Chippewa, Wis., native is currently enrolled in UMD's Masters of Educaiton program. He graduated from UMD in 2012 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree.
