Trevor Burmeister

Head coach Bob Rients has announced the addition of former University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse player and coach Trevor Burmeister to the Bulldog baseball bench as a graduate assistant coach for the 2016 campaign. Burmeister joins UMD after a two-year coaching stint at his alma mater, working as a head outfield instructor as well as assistant hitting coach for the Eagles, who made consecutive NCAA III Midwest Regional tournament appearances, winning the 2015 version and earning the school's first berth in the NCAA III World Series, finshing second in the nation a season ago. While a player for the Eagles, he helped lead a conference championship team in 2012. He spent his first two seasons with Madison College, competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

This past summer, Burmiester joined the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League as the team's lead hitting instructor, outfield instructor, and camp organizer. He will return to the Mallards this summer for a second go-around in the NWL. In addition to his gameday duties, Burmeister helped organize camps and recruit throughout the Midwest while at Wisconsin-LaCrosse. He cut his teeth in the coaching ranks as an instructor at the Woodall Baseball Academy, assisting former Major League player Brad Woodall with the instruction of youth and high school players while leading talks on how to become a college baseball player.

At UMD, Burmeister serves as the hitting and outfield instructor and is heavily involved in camp organization and recruiting future Bulldogs.

Burmeister earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 2014, majoring in professional and organizational communications with minors in psychology and sociology. He is currently working towards completing his Master's in Education here at UMD.
