BULLDOG CAREER:
2018: Saw his workload almost double from his rookie year ... made 11 appearances logged 13.2 innings ... struck out 15 and posted a 7.24 ERA
2017: Stepped onto the diamond for the first time in Bulldog colors on Feb. 18 against Pittsburg State University, tossing one inning while allowing one hit and striking out two ...finished with seven strikeouts  in 6.2 innings of relief work ... also went 1-for-3 at the plate.
2016: Was redshirted as a first-year freshman.
BEFORE UMD: Is a 2015 graduate of St. Michael-Albertville High School ... started three seasons for the Knights, serving as team captain his final two prep seasons ... earned All-Mississippi 8 Conference honors in 2015 ... batted over .300 for his career while also earning Academic All-Conference recognition ... also started two seasons as a forward for the basketball Knights.
PERSONAL: Born Jaylen Jamison Hakes in Crosby, Minn. ... is the son of Nicole Slettenp (a volleyball and basketball almuna at NSIC rival St. Cloud State) and Jamie Hakes ... has two younger siblings, Jordyn Hakes and Leo Sletten ... is majoring in teaching mathematics at UMD.
