Played for the Duluth Huskies of the Northwoods League following the 2015 season.

2016 (Senior) Named an NCBWA Preseason All-America Honorable Mention and to the Preseason All-Central Region Team.

2015 (Junior) Earned his first career All-NSIC First Team selection as well as an NSIC Gold Glove at second base after moving there from third a season ago · selected to the All-Central Region First Team by each of the three major voting bodies - the ABCA, Daktronics, and the CBWA · one of four Bulldogs to appear in 50 games, including 49 starts on the middle  infield · ended the season on a 13-game hitting streak, beginning Apr. 26 against U-Mary · went 4-for-4, a season-best against St. Michael's (Vt.) on Mar. 17, driving in two and crossing the plate three times · finished with 18 doubles, two short of the Bulldog season high and had six games with multiple two-baggers · finished with just three errors on the year and one in his last 31 games.

2014 (Sophomore) After a slow start, became one of UMD's most productive hitters, starting 37 games at third base · finished the season with nine multi-hit games while being held without a hit in just 14 of 38 games played · went 5-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored, two doubles, and a triple in a doubleheader with Upper Iowa on Apr. 22 · took the mound just once, allowing a single earned run in 3.2 innings while striking out two.

BEFORE UMD A 2012 graduate of Benilde-St. Margaret’s School · played three years while starting two for coach Greg Hoemke and the Red Knights · received All-North Suburban Conference honors in his junior and senior seasons · pariticipated in Minnesota Lions all-star game in his senior season · also played basketball as a forward for the Knights.
 
PERSONAL Born James Edward Heck on Jan. 13, 1994 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota · only child of Alicia and Edward Heck · majoring in statistics and actuarial sciences at UMD.
