2022: Appeared in and started in just 3 games for the Bulldogs, due to injury. Tallied 15.2 innings and 24 strikeouts on the season. Allowed 14 hits and 10 earned runs, while going 2-0 with a 5.74 ERA.

2021: Appeared in eight games during the 2021 season all of which were starts on the mound for Tanner. He pitched 42.1 innings on the year and only surrendered 41 hits and 18 walks while leading the Bulldogs in strikeouts with 51. Carried a 5.74 ERA and a record of 2-2. Kept opposing hitters to an average against of just .248. 

2020: Made one start which was his only appearance of the shortened 2020 season. Pitched 3.2 innings and struck out five opposing hitters. Kept opposing hitters to a batting average of .286. 

BEFORE UMD: Is a 2019 graduate of Prior Lake High School ... started two seasons for the Lakers and served as a team captain in 2019 ... played on the first Lakers team to ever win the South Suburban Conference Championship in 2018 ... also lettered one year in football as a quarterback for Prior Lake.

PERSONAL: Born Russell Vaughn Tanner in Akron, Ohio ... is the son of Kevin and Julie Tanner ... has an older sister (Lucy) and an identical twin brother (Sam) who also plays baseball at UMD ... plans to major in business at UMD.
