Six years after putting the wraps on a remarkable quarterbacking career at UMD, Chase Vogler returned to his alma mater in 2019 to take over as the Bulldogs' offensive coordinator and now serves as Associate Head Coach. He had spent the previous five seasons on the University of Wisconsin-Stout coaching staff, including the final three years handling the offensive coordinator role.

Last season Vogler's rushing offense ranked just outside the top ten at 12th in all of the NCAA in 2024, led by redshirt junior Kyle Walljasper (806 rushing yards). He also oversaw 2024 All-American selections, graduate student tight end Sam Pitz (Don Hansen NCAA DII All-American Honorable Mention and AFCA DII First Team All-American) and sixth-year offensive linemen Aiden Williams(Don Hansen NCAA DII All-American Honorable Mention), who both inked NFL free agent contracts after the season. His offense earned four All-NSIC First Team selections (offensive lineman Williams, redshirt junior wide receiver DaShaun Ames, tight end Pitz, and quarterback Walljasper) with one Second Team selection (graduate student offensive lineman Liam Fahey). In 2023, Vogler's rushing offense ranked sixth in all of the NCAA in 2023, led by redshirt sophomore Walljasper (1,078 rushing yards) and his breakout season under center. UMD also ranked 11th in fourth down conversions (.636) and 13th in third down conversions (.479) in the nation. Senior tight end Pitz and graduate offensive lineman Treyvon Cahalan were named a Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-American Honorable Mention, as well as to the 2023 D2Footballcom Elite 100. Cahalan, Pitz and Walljasper were all named to All-NSIC Teams, while Cahalan earned an invite to the the NFL Rookie Camp of the New Orleans Saints. Cahalan was also a AFCA Division II Coaches Second Team All-American in 2023.

In 2022, UMD led all NCAA Division II in time of possession averaging nearly 36 minutes per game with the football. The Bulldog offense also finished in the top 25 nationally in passing efficiency (13th), rushing offense (15th), third down percentage (16th) and first downs gained per game (21st). In total, the UMD offense produced five First Team All-NSIC selections and four Second Team selections. Offensive tackle Brent Laing was named an AFCA First Team All-American.

In his first season orchestrating the Bulldog offense, UMD ranked third in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) in scoring (34.2 points per game) and were fourth in total yards (404.4 per game) while placing four individuals on the All-NSIC first team -- junior quarterback John Larson (first team), sophomore offensive tackle Brent Laing (first team) and sophomore running back Wade Sullivan.

Vogler was hired as Wisconsin-Stout's game coordinator/quarterbacks coach in 2014 and two years later was promoted to offensive coordinator. During his three seasons in that position, he helped produce 13 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honorees. Among those was Levy Hamer, who paced the conference in receiving yards in 2018. This past season, the Blue Devils ranked third among WIAC schools in both overall total offense and passing yardage. After coaching professionally as the offensive coordinator with Germany's Bielefeld Bulldogs during the summer of 2013, Vogler returned to UMD that fall to serve as a volunteer assistant coach (defensive secondary). He also had a short graduate assistant stint at Western Illinois University, where he was reunited with his collegiate head coach, Bob Nielsen, before joining the Blue Devils in 2014.

Over the course of his four seasons with the Bulldogs, Vogler took snaps in all 54 games and went 46-6 as a starter (including 7-3 in the postseason). He quarterbacked the Bulldogs to one NCAA Division II national championship (2010), four NSIC titles (2009-12) and four NCAA II playoff appearances (2009-12). The Inver Grove Heights, Minn., native currently ranks first all-time among Bulldogs in pass completion percentage (63.2 percent), third in total offense (10,486 yards), fourth in passing yards (7,583), and eighth in rushing yards (2,903). Vogler earned a B.A. Degree in criminology from UMD in 2013. He is married to former UMD soccer player Kelli (Klun) and have three children -- daughters Zurich and Scotlyn and son Lawson.
