AS A BULLDOG

2012: Started 47 games on the year, with all but 11 of those assignments coming as an outfielder … came away with 35 hits and 18 runs scored in 142 at bats (all career-highs) and drove in 23 runs while spending the majority of the season hitting seventh in the order … fielded his position well to the tune of a .979 fielding percentage.

2011: Spent the majority of his first collegiate season patrolling centerfield, where he made 15 starts as a rookie and compiled a .288 batting average … made 11 relief appearances on the mound and was 1-1 in 15.1 innings pitched.

BEFORE UMD: Is a 2010 graduate of Tartan High School, where he held down three years of starting duty for the Titans ... earned a pair of all-conference nods before landing all-state honors as a senior ... competed for three seasons on the gridiron as a two-way player, landing one all-conference selection in his career ... also spent four years witht he Tartan basketball team, starting two and earning all-conference acclaim in his final prep go-around.

PERSONAL: Son of Peter and Kathleen Ryan ... has two siblings, Zack and Sam ... father Peter played NCAA I basketball, while brothers Zack (Wisconsin-Eau Claire) and Sam (Minnesota) each played collegiate baseball.
