Head coach Matt Bowen added a former recruit from his days at Bemidji State University to his coaching staff in 2014-15.
Jake Schalow, who spent his entire playing career at BSU, was recruited by Bowen out of Kaukana High School before the 2010-11 season. Schalow played in 108 games including 35 starts, putting together his most impressive season last year with 13.1 points per game while averaging over 34 minutes in 27 starts for the Beavers. In addition to joining the Bulldog coaching staff, Schalow finished his degree for teaching physical education last fall as he completed his student teaching requirement at Hermantown High School. He is now pursuing a graduate degree at UMD.
Schalow’s younger brother, Kyle, is a sophomore guard for the Bulldogs.
