BULLDOG CAREER2014-15 Outlook: Will continue to serve a starting role for the Bulldogs after emerging as a leader of the young squad and one of the team’s best pure shooters last season.
2013-14 (Junior): Played 34.2 minutes per game while appearing in all 27 games for UMD including 26 starts • became a go-to scorer for the Bulldogs, averaging a career-high 16.1 points while also serving as UMD’s top rebounder at 6.2 per outing • posted a pair of double-doubles at Minnesota-Crookston (Dec. 6) and at MSU-Moorhead (Feb. 8) • nailed down a career-high 42 points in UMD’s 88-80 win at Northern State on Feb. 7 • had 22 double-digit-scoring performances including ten 20-plus point games • scored 26 points in the Bulldogs’ NSIC Tournament game at Upper Iowa, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc • shot 46.2 percent on the season, including 40.9 from three-point range.
2012-13 (Sophomore): Played in 26 games including 19 starts during his second go-around with UMD while averaging 10.0 points per game for the Bulldogs • posted a career-high 26 points in UMD’s postseason showdown with Augustana on Feb. 27 • hauled in a season-high eight boards at Augustana on Feb. 1 • led the Bulldogs with 16 points and six rebounds against Minnesota State on Jan. 19 • scored 21 points in UMD’s 71-69 win over Mary on Jan. 5.
2011-12 (Freshman): Owned up to his billing as a potential immediate impact rookie, stepping right into the UMD lineup as and starting all 27 outings (the only returner to do so) while holding down an average of 22 minutes per game • made 68 of 151 shots from the floor (45 percent) on his way to an average 6.8 points per game • took advantage when defenders gave him additional space on the perimeter, draining 14 of 34 (41 percent) three-pointers • posted a respectable assists-to-turnover ratio of 53:37 and came away with 12 steals • cracked double figures in scoring eight times and dropped a career-high 17 points Jan. 8 at Augustana College when he drained eight of his nine attempts from the floor • posted back-to-back double digit scoring performances on three occasions (Dec. 9-10, Jan. 8-13 and Jan. 27-28) • went three whole games without committing a turnover Feb. 11-18, racking up eight assists in the process in helping the Bulldogs to a pair of wins • hauled in a season-high 13 boards in a Jan. 28 win at Mary • scored at least one point in all but one outing on the season -- UMD’s season-ending loss to Southwest Minnesota State in the quarterfinal round of the NSIC Tournament.
BEFORE UMD: Graduated from De Pere High School in 2011 • bodaciously worked his way into the limelight for the Redbirds, pacing the team in points, rebounds and assists in his farewell prep season • capped off a dazzling senior season by guiding the Redbirds to a runner-up finish in the Wisconsin State High School Division I Tournament, which was the first postseason appearance for the squad since 1977 • landed All-Fox River Classic Conference first team acclaim in both his junior and senior seasons.
PERSONAL: Born Reece William Zoelle in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on July 7, 1992 • son of Mike and Marie Zoelle • has two siblings, Nick and Alexa • enjoys swimming, boating and fishing in his spare time • majoring in business at UMD.
