Biography

AS A BULLDOG:
2021: Made 18 appearances in his senior season all in a relief setting. Served as the Bulldogs premier middle reliever getting the call first out of the bullpen on most occasions. Amassed 33.1 innings pitched, and surrendered 15 walks while striking out a career high 26 opposing hitters. Garnered a 1-0 record over the course of the season. 

2020: Started one game on the mound in his only appearance of the shortened 2020 season.  Pitched 5.2 innings, surrendered six hits and two earned runs, while striking out six opposing hitters. 

2019: Appeared in 14 games as a reliever for the Bulldogs ... started three games and played in 10 total as a fielder ... as a pitcher, recorded a 3.79 earned run average ... struck out 17 and walked 10 ... garnered a 1-1 record ... amassed 19.0 innings on the year ... had one hit and one stolen baseball at the plate ... named UMD's most improved player along with Anders Brown.

2018: Played in 23 games a collegiate newcomer ... received 10 starting assignments --  the first five at second base and the remaining at third base ... also was called upon on three occasions for some brief relief pitching work  ... turned in the first of two muliti-hit games against visiting Upper Iowa on March 30 by going 2-for-3.

BEFORE UMD: Is a 2017 graduate of Eau Claire Regis High School ... was a four-year starter for head coach Andy Niese and the Ramblers ... earned All-District and All-Cloverbelt Conference first team status in 2016 and 2017 ... selected a Wisconsin Academic All-State Academic honoree as a senior ... participated in the 2017 Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Classic ... also lettered three years in football (quarterback and defensive back) during his prep career.
PERSONAL: Born Paul Douglas Petit in Eau Claire, Wis. ... is son of Douglas and Paula Petit ... has two siblings (Mitchell and Sam) ... is majoring in biology at UMD.
