AS A BULLDOG: Debuted with the Bulldogs in 2011-12 and provided UMD with reliable support and depth at the point position ... cracked the UMD lineup in 22 games, including each of the  final 11 outings of the season ... collected three points -- all assists -- and was +6 on the year ... two of those helpers came in back-to-back road confrontations with Western Michigan (Jan. 7) and Nebraska-Omaha (Jan. 13) ...  spent the majority of his time as a sophomore working alongside fellow Bulldog newcomer Chris Casto.

BEFORE UMD: Have skates, will travel had been his mantra the three seasons before his arrival in Duluth  ... played with the Owatonna Express of the North America Hockey League in 2008-09, enrolled at Providence College in September 2009, rejoined the Express that winter, and then hunkered down in Indianapolis as a member of the United States Hockey League’s Indianapolis Ice for the 2010-11 season … generated 19 points (five goals and 14 assists) and was a +15 while suiting up in all 60 regular season engagements (the only Indiana skater to do that) ... figured in on 11 goals (all assists) in an abbreviated 26-game stint with the Owatonna Express one year earlier … received his collegiate baptismal  -- 17 games worth -- during the opening half of that season with Providence College and mustered one assist in the process ... was chosen to the NAHL All-Rookie Team and the NAHL Central Division first team after crafting a 22-point season (eight goals and 14 assists) in his first go-around with the Express ... is a 2008 graduate of Superior High School ... lettered four years with the hockey Spartans and was a two-time all-state defenseman.

PERSONAL: Born Timothy Ian Smith on July 15, 1990 in Superior … is the son of Lyndon and Vickie Smith … has one older brother, (Joshua) … is majoring in political science at UMD. 

BULLDOG MILESTONES: First Game - vs. Notre Dame (Oct. 8, 2011).  First Assist - at Western Michigan (Jan. 7, 2012). Most Points, Game - 1 (3 Times). Longest Scoring Streak - 2 Games (Jan. 7- Jan. 13, 2012).
