2012 OUTLOOK
Becomes the first Bulldog to return with experience at the libero position in years, heading into her second season of on-court action armed with a reputation as a game-changing defender • should command the attention of coaches and opponents around the NSIC from the get-go after coming into 2011 as an unknown commodity • will be counted on to utilize her athleticism and awareness to anchor the UMD back row.

AS A BULLDOG
2011 (As a Freshman) - Took over at the libero position -- where she saw action in all 110 sets on the season -- after pacing the sidelines as a redshirt freshman during her first year on campus in 2010 • Scooped the most digs of any Bulldog in four years, reeling in a team-leading 594 saves at a pace of 5.4 per frame • Ranked third in the NSIC in digs per set, and was the only freshman to crack the top ten in that categroy • Finished the season with a serve receive percentage of .975 on 474 attemps • Showcased defensive prowess right away, racking up a season-high 29 digs -- a figure she would match on twice throughout the year -- in the Sept. 2 season-opening win over Hillsdale • Selected as an All-Tournament performer at the Indianapolis Tournament • Turned the same trick one week later in front of the home crowd, earning a spot on the UMD Classic All-Tournament Team.

Redshirted the 2010 season as a first-year newcomer.

BEFORE UMD
Played for Stewartville High School, finishing her career with over 1,000 kills and 2,000 digs• earned four consecutive All-Hiawatha Valley League Conference honors from 2006-2009• participated in four Minnesota State Volleyball Tournaments, finishing in second place twice• selected to the all-state tournament team as a sophomore and junior, and earned Minnesota Class AA All-State honors as a junior and senior• was a Minnesota Ms. Volleyball finalist in 2009• named to all-conference team in basketball four consecutive seasons (2006-09).

PERSONAL
Born Julie Lynn Rainey on December 19, 1991 • daughter of Carol and Dan Rainey • has two sisters, Emily and Sarah.
