BULLDOG CAREER:
2021 (Fifth Year): Appeared in 106 sets and 29 matches for the Bulldogs. Recorded 2.29 kills per set and 2.77 digs per set. Recorded a hitting percentage of .166 on the year. Also recorded 38 blocks, 31 assists, and 22 service aces. Berg tallied 286.0 total points on the year. Berg became just the 10th Bulldog to have 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Berg ended her career with 1,419 kills, 1,225 digs, 103 assists and 89 service aces. Her overall career stats recorded her averaging 3.14 kills per set and 2.71 digs per set for the Bulldogs. She finished with a hitting percentage of .204, 166.0 total blocks, 117 assists, and 89 serve aces. She concluded her career with a total of 1,601.5 points while averaging 3.54 points per set.
2020 (Senior): Season canceled due to Covid-19. Will use NCAA eligibility waiver to come back and compete in the 2021 season.
2019 (Junior): Attained her second straight first team All-NSIC selection, as well as her first first team AVCA All American honors. Appeared in 113 sets and 32 matches for the Bulldogs. Recorded 4.18 kills per set and 3.03 digs per set. Finished first on the roster with 472 total kills, and second on the roster with 342 total digs. Recorded a hitting percentage of .228. Recorded 32 total blocks, 29 assists and 12 service aces. Berg tallied a career high 502.0 points on the season including 4.44 points per set.
2018 (Sophomore) Distinguished herself as a first team All-NSIC selection averaging 2.83 kills per set and 2.83 digs per set as a six-spot rotational player • concluded the season with 326 kills, 325 digs, 58 blocks and a team-high 27 aces • was one of four Bulldogs to register at least 300 kills on the year • set a personal best with 22 kills against top-ranked Northern State on Sept. 22 • tallied team single-game highs in that match in kills, attempts (60) and points (24.5)were all season-game highs followed that up the next meeting with the Wolves with 18 digs, a new career high on Oct. 26 • led the team with 11 double-doubles including posting four in the five postseason matches • thumped 854 attacks, the second most Bulldog attempts • was second on the club with 12 solo blocks and racked up four aces twice (U-Mary- Sept. 15 and Minnesota State- Oct. 19) • pieced together another premier season in serve reception with a .956 repletion percentage on a team-high 636 attempts • netted playing time in 115 sets starting in 27 of the 34 matches • selected to the NSIC All-Academic Team.
2017 (Freshman) Splashed on the scene her first season grabbing the starting role in all 33 matches, establishing herself as UMD's go-to attacker • attained second team all-conference recognition • posted 22 double-digits matches and eight double-doubles (all kills and digs) • finished the season with 378 kills, 390 digs, 38 blocks and 28 aces for 425 points (3.61 per set) • led all NSIC newcomers in a bevy of categories: kills per set (3.20), points per set, attacks per set (8.82), kills and, among all freshmen, ranked fifth in the country in terms of total kills, 13th in points per set and 14th kills per set • hit a season-high .450 (10 kills on 20 attacks with one error) against Minot State on Oct. 20 • compiled a season-high 18 kills in the win over Sioux Falls on Nov. 4 • posted a season-high 15 digs at Michigan Tech on Sept. 9 • registered eight straight matches with at least 11 kills from Oct. 31 to Nov. 30 • was targeted a team-high 630 times in the service reception game, successfully passing at a .948 percent clip.
BEFORE UMD: Led the Trojans to a 6-3 Lake Conference and 22-7 overall record, ranking seventh in Class 3A · holds the Wayzata H.S. school record for kills with 1,449 and also has picked up 1,101 digs over four seasons • racked up 418 kills in 2016 (5.2 per set), leading Wayzata and ranking fourth in Minnesota in total kills • flashed her talent on the defensive side of the ball as well, tallying a team-leading 288 digs in her senior season • three-time All-Lake Conference Team member, two-time All-Metro Second Team member, and two-time All-State honoree.
PERSONAL: Born Kate Elizabeth Berg in St. Cloud, Minn. • daughter of Beth and Chris Berg • has one older sister, Emily • participated in DECA and choir at Wayzata High School · plans to major in marketing at UMD.
