Biography

BULLDOG CAREER:
2021 (Senior): Appeared in 21 matches during her senior season. During those matches Ballard recorded 145 kills with an attack percentage of .218. Added 5 assists on the offensive end. Ballard made big strides defense where she record career highs in both digs (21) and total blocks (48)

2020 (Junior): Season canceled due to Covid-19.

2019 (Sophomore):
Appeared in 77 sets and 27 matches played with the Bulldogs during her sophomore season. Recorded 149 kills (1.94) kills per set in 352 total attempts for a hitting percentage of 2.47. Her 149 kills were good for 5th on the UMD roster. Ballard also tallied two assists on the offensive end. On the defensive side she recorded 13 digs, grabbed 37 total blocks (4th on the roster) and recorded 170 points (2.21 per set).

2018 (Freshman) Accumulated 11 starts and played in 20 matches during her rookie campaign • made her presence known as a front-court role player averaging 1.28 kills per set and .72 blocks per set • tallied her first collegiate start in the three-set victory over Erskine on Aug. 25 where she shined with eight kills and a .429 hitting clip • the eight kills against the Fleet Flyers was a season best • also corralled her first block and first dig of her young career in that match • played her best volleyball against Northern State combining for seven kills and a season high eight blocks, dethroning the top team in the nation • notched at least five kills on six occasions • finished the season with 59 kills and 33 blocks in 46 sets.

BEFORE UMD: 
A 2018 graduate of Robbinsdale Cooper High School • led the Hawks in kills over the last two years • two-time most valuable player voted among her peers • selected to the all-conference teams in 2016 and 2017 and a honorable mention pick her sophomore season • was a four-year starting multi-position attacker for Bryan Borgos • served as captain during her junior and senior seasons • also a track athlete that participated in the high jump.

PERSONAL: Born Summer Ambrina Ballard in Crystal, Minn. • daughter of Samuel Ballard and Sarah Amundson and the stepdaughter of Dan Amundson • has two sisters, Samarah and Savannah • attained high honors as a freshman and a sophomore • majoring in English at UMD.
