Biography

BULLDOG CAREER:
2021 (Senior):
Appeared in 106 sets and 29 matches for the Bulldogs in her senior season. Recorded career highs in kills (23) assists (84), service aces (32), digs (495), and total points (55).

2020 (Junior):
Season canceled due to Covid-19. 

2019 (Sophomore):
Appeared in 108 sets and 32 matches for the Bulldogs during her sophomore season. Notched 19 kills and 86 total attempts. Recorded 21 assists (5th) and 26 service aces on the year good for third on the roster. Recorded 236 digs (2.19) per set for fourth most on UMD. Recorded 45.0 points (0.42) per set on the season. 

2018 (Freshman) Instantly made the the Bulldog defense better as teams hit .160 on the season • became a pivotal backrow defender marking up 228 digs, the most by any non starter and the second most stops among the back row besides libero Keena Seiffert • notched 2.04 digs per set and was consistent, piling up seven digs on 19 occasions and double-digits digs on four occasions • posted a season-best 14 digs twice against Saint Leo on Aug. 25 and Northern Michigan on Aug. 31 • was the best passer out of serve receive all season committing only eight errors out of 354 serves, a team best .977 passing clip • lasted over 150 serve receptions over a span of 50 sets without an error • not afraid to attack, sparking up a pair of kills on 12 attacks • serving specialist that pieced together two separate runs of 11 and 14 • played in 112 of out 116 possible sets.

BEFORE UMD: 
A 2018 graduate of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton High School • reached 2,000 kills and 1,000 digs for her high school career as a senior, where she was bestowed with Camden Conference Most Valuable Player • earned three first team All-Area (2014-16) awards and the Camden All-Conference (2015-17) citations • received the 2016 Marshall Independent Fall Female Athlete of the Year • a five-year starter for head coach Rick Haberman and the Panthers, where her club went to the state tournament from 2014-16 • finished as 2014 Class A runner-ups and placed third in the state tournament two years later • named to the Minnesota State All-Tournament team in each appearance to the tournament • captained TMB her senior season.

PERSONAL: Born Sydney Violet Lanoue in Tracy Minn. • daughter of Brian and Beth Lanoue • has two older brothers, Parker and Brady • rich family history in collegiate athletics -- mother, Beth (Elliott) was NAIA All-American outside hitter for Southwest Minnesota State University, father, Brian played basketball at Willmar Vo-Tech (now Ridgewater College) and brother, Brady also plays baseball at SMSU • while at TMB, served as the vice president on National Honor Society, and was involved in Peer Helpers, Big Buddies, and Fellowships of Christian Athletes • also participated in band • majoring in exercise science at UMD.
