The University of Minnesota Duluth men's cross country team took first place at the Pine Hill Invitational today in Carlton, Minn. after sweeping the top two spots. Sophomore Robb Winterfeld took the first in the 8K race with a time of 25:41.4 and teammate junior Nate Beerling was runner-up in a time of 25:59.5 in the field of 89 competitors. In wining the race Winterfeld set a new course record for the Pine Hill course.
The Bulldog women's team came is second only to the University of Minnesota who was running in a UMD hosted race for the first time. The Bulldogs were led by first place finisher overall, Sara Frederickson. She ran the 6k race in a time of 22:33.5 also a new course record for Pine Hill.
The UMD cross country teams will be back in action Oct. 18 when they travel to LaCrosse, Wis. for the Jim Drews Invitational.
