Senior wide receiver Tim Battaglia, who holds virtually all University of Minnesota-Duluth pass receiving records, has been named to the 24-member CoSIDA Academic All-District V Team for 2003. District V comprises all NCAA II and III and NAIA schools from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana.
Battaglia, a 6-3, 205-pound native of Cloquet, MN, maintains a 3.42 cumulative grade point average as a finance major. A 2002 CoSIDA Academic All-District V second team pick and a two-time Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honoree, Battaglia is UMD's all-time leader in pass receptions (184), receiving yards (3,489) and touchdowns (38) and has registered at least one pass catch in a school-record 36 straight games. He currently holds down the No. 2 spot on the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference career charts for both pass receiving yardage (2,466) and pass reception touchdowns (32). Battaglia, one of 24 candidates for the 2003 Harlon Hill Award (most outstanding player in NCAA II football), ranks ninth among all NCAA II players in pass receiving yardage per game (106.4) heading into this Saturday's (Nov. 15) regular season finale at Winona State University.
