The University of Minnesota Duluth men's basketball team assumed control early and never relinquished it in a 89-47 non-conference victory over the College of St. Scholastica on Tuesday night at Romano Gymnasium.
Bulldog forwards
Bryan Foss and
John Emerson tied for the game high in points with 21 each. It marks the fourth straight game that Emerson grabbed at least a share of the team high in points.
Foss, who suffered a mild lower body injury near the conclusion of the first half, was in a complementary mood afterward.
\"He's a shooter and he's got some range,\" Foss said of fellow high scorer Emerson.
Foss is expected to be sidelined for a couple of days but hopes to be ready in time for Friday's opening game of the American Family Insurance Classic against Michigan Tech University at 8 p.m.
Several Bulldogs saw significant action on Tuesday, as head coach
Gary Holquist took advantage of an opportunity for a depth test.
\"It's a long season and we've got no seniors on this team -- we're going to need the 12 guys who suit up to make a contribution,\" said Holquist.
They did so on Tuesday, pushing the final score to a 42-point margin.
\"We established the fact that we can get a big lead and keep stretching it out,\" said Holquist.
