After completing arguably one of the most successful seasons in University of Minnesota Duluth cross country history, the men's and women's teams have announced their 2003 award winners.
Women's team:
Most Improved - Heidi Fisher (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.)
Rookie of the Year - Sara Frederickson (Fr., Elk River, Minn.)
Most Dedicated - Michelle Erickson (Jr., Red Wing, Minn.)
Most Inspirational - Michelle Erickson (Jr., Red Wing, Minn.)
Most Valuable - Sara Frederickson (Fr., Elk River, Minn.)
Captains for 2004 - Jill Sullivan (Jr., Prior Lake, Minn.) and Stephanie Lee (So., Richfield, Minn.)
Men's Team:
Most Improved - Neil Olson (So., Ladysmith, Wis.)
Rookie of the Year - Brian Polski (Fr., Apple Valley, Minn.)
Most Dedicated - Nate Beerling (Jr., St. Peter, Minn.)
Most Inspirational - Robb Winterfeld (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.)
Most Valuable - Robb Winterfeld (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.)
Captains for 2004 - Robb Winterfeld (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.) and Nate Beerling (Jr., St. Peter, Minn.)
The Bulldogs won both the men's and women's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference team titles in 2003 as well as producing the individual titleholder in both races. The men's team also made its second trip to the NCAA Division II Championships in Raleigh, N.C. where it finished 18th.
