The No. 6-ranked University of Minnesota Duluth volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over the University of South Dakota in North Central Conference action Friday night at Romano Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (15-2, 3-0) took the first two games with ease, 30-15, 30-20, but faced tough resistance in the third game of the match.
UMD faltered a bit in the third game, allowing USD to took numerous leads.
Backed by some timely kills from two-time AVCA All-American
Vicky Braegelmann, UMD was able to climb back into game three and defeat USD 32-30 in the final game of the 3-0 match win.
Braegelmann had a match-high 22 kills while
Rachel Langseth added 13.
Kari Wolford chipped in 11 kills in the match for the Bulldogs.
Katie Gangelhoff paced UMD with 51 assists and 10 digs in the match while
Chelsea Meierotto and Wolford dished out 20 and 11 digs respectively.
UMD will be back in action on Saturday afternoon against Minnesota State University-Mankato. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Romano Gymnasium.
